Life Magazine, in the issue of October 27, [1947], carries a three-page story about a centennial reunion in Salt Lake City, Utah, participated in by some 400 of the 2,000 living descendants of an early Mormon pioneer and his six wives. The magazine story asserts that in the year 1834, one Charles C. Rich first met Joseph Smith. "In 1843, Revelator Smith 'revealed' a new doctrine which sanctified the institution of plural marriages. Follower Rich soon began to practice polygamy. By the time Rich arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 2, 1847, he had six wives and a growing family," says Life.
The Reorganized Church asserts now, and has from the beginning, that Joseph Smith never revealed, preached, practiced, sanctioned, or condoned polygamy. The law he gave to the Church in his lifetime was plain and completely in harmony with the Biblical law that one man and one woman-"they twain," not three or six or any other plural number-should be one flesh.
A revelation received on February 9, 1831, and published to this day in the Utah edition of the Doctrine and Covenants as well as our own, commands: "Thou shalt love thy wife with all thy heart, and shall cleave unto her and none else" (RLDS Section 42:7; Utah Section 42:22).
The following month, another revelation contained this language: "Marriage is ordained of God unto man; wherefore it is lawful that he should have one wife, and they twain shall be one flesh, and all this that the earth might answer the end of its creation" (Doctrine and Covenants 49:3).
Joseph Smith was killed on June 27, 1844. Polygamy was first publicly proclaimed by Brigham Young in Salt Lake on August 29, 1852, eight years and two months after the prophet's death. It was presented as a revelation from Smith, received in 1843, but kept secret for all those years. Young stated ... to the conference, "Though that doctrine [polygamy] has not been practiced by the elders, this people have believed in it for years. " Therefore, if the magazine story is correct, Mr. Rich arrived in Utah with six wives almost five years before Brigham Young proclaimed polygamy with the assertion that it had not yet been practiced by the Church.
Young predicted on this occasion, "And I tell you ... it [the principle of polygamy] will sail over and ride triumphantly above all the prejudice and priestcraft of the day." How that prediction has been fulfilled, I leave you to decide.
The purported revelation (Section 132, Utah Edition of the Doctrine and Covenants) presented thus in 1852, quotes Joseph Smith as inquiring of the Lord as to how He "justified" the patriarchs of old in polygamy-when the Bible contains no mention of such a justification, and the Book of Mormon calls polygamy an abomination. It [the Utah Section 132] commands Joseph to "prepare thy heart to receive and obey the instructions which I am about to give unto you" (verse 1), and in a later paragraph commands Emma Smith to "receive all that have been given unto my servant Joseph" (verse 52). The purported revelation teaches not only a plurality of wives, but makes salvation dependent on obedience to the principle of polygamy (verse 4). It teaches also a plurality of gods and promises that those who practice polygamy "shall pass by the angels, and the gods, which are set there, to their exaltation and glory in all things" (verses 20 and 21). It promises that if a man marry a wife according to this law, any sin save shedding of innocent blood will be forgiven him (verse 26).
After the declaration of this document [Utah Section 132] in 1852, many women in Utah claimed to have been wives to Joseph Smith. But examination of each claim will reveal that the marriage was performed by proxy after Smith's death. In all of Utah- in all of the world- not a single child of Joseph Smith has ever been produced save by his one and only wife, Emma Hale Smith.
When you consider that the so-called revelation promised Joseph that he would be blessed and multiplied an hundredfold in this world of wives and children (see verse 55), and when you consider the pride and satisfaction in polygamous ancestry which still exists in Utah (exemplified by the family gathering described in Life), does it seem probable that there could have been a single polygamous child begotten by Joseph Smith who would not blazon that fact from the housetops? You may be sure that if even one such child- let alone the hundreds promised to him-could have been produced in evidence, he would have been produced long before this.
Emma Smith, who was the wife of Joseph's youth, testified in her old age: "He had no other wife but me; nor did he to my knowledge ever have.... He did not have any improper relation with any woman that ever came to my knowledge.... I know that he had no other wife, or wives, than myself, in any sense- spiritual, or otherwise." "Young Joseph," the son of Joseph and Emma, though not quite twelve years old at his father's death, was old enough to know whether his father's family life was all that it should be, and his evidence corroborates the statement of his mother.
In a court trial involving possession of certain real estate, Judge John F. Phillips, of the Circuit Court of the United States Western District of Missouri, found as follows in his decision given March 16, 1894: "...That the church in Utah has largely departed from the faith, doctrines, laws, ordinances, and usages of said original church ... and has incorporated into its system of faith the doctrines of celestial marriages and a plurality of wives."
We stand on this record to deny again that Joseph Smith ever revealed, preached, practiced, condoned, or sanctioned polygamy.

Wow! I am truly amazed. What do you have to say about the following wives of Joseph that have been documented by historians?

ReplyDeleteI have posted a personal statement of Brigham Young's. It is very pointed and begins to reveal the lie taught about Joseph Smith's Polygamy.
If you want to further investigate this article, use the link below.

That said, I've begun a post just to answer your questions. While I'm not sure why you've decided to post the purported afidavits of Joseph Smith's wives and marriage dates, I must assume you're just wanting to see what kind of response I'll give you.
My response is a Chronology of Joseph Smith's life in 1843. While not totally complete, the record showing already clashes with a date or two when the supposed plural marraiges took place.

Please understand, It is not my intent to slam a people or a church. Only tell the truth.
Many people don't tell the truth because they profit more from a lie. Other people find the truth, but continue telling the lie because they've invested so much into the lie, their life becomes about saving face when the truth is revealed...
I'm trusting you're the kind of person who wants the truth for truths sake!
God bless!
Brigham's Polygamous Revelations in England
The Church opened its mission in England in 1837 by sending apostles and elders to conduct missionary work there. The brethren were there for long periods of time without their wives. The mission was very successful and thousands joined the Church.
The apostles were idolized by their new followers, and temptations naturally followed. To make matters worse, polygamy was a common topic of discussion in both England and America at the time, and was being practiced in both countries.
Under these circumstances, Brigham declared "the doctrine" of polygamy was revealed to him in a vision and revelations while in England:
"While we were in England, (in 1839 and 40), I think the Lord manifested to me by vision and his Spirit things [concerning polygamy] that I did not then understand. (I never opened my mouth to any one concerning them, until I returned to Nauvoo;) Joseph had never mentioned this; there had never been a thought of it in the Church that I ever knew anything about at that time, but I had this for myself, and I kept it to myself. And when I returned home, and Joseph revealed those things to me, then I understood the reflections that were upon my mind while in England. But this (communication with Joseph on the subject) was not until after I had told him what I understood—this was in 1841. The revelation [Section 132 in the Utah Doctrine and Covenants] was given in 1843, but the doctrine was revealed before this. (The Messenger of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 1 [June 1875]: 29; Deseret News, July 1, 1874)
This statement by Brigham is very important because:
1.He admits that polygamy was not a doctrine of the Church before 1839 or 1840: "There had never been a thought of it in the Church." This destroys the LDS Church's teachings that polygamy was even thought of as a Church doctrine as early as 1832 in Kirtland;
2.According to Brigham, Joseph had never even mentioned polygamy as a doctrine before 1841;
3.It was Brigham Young who first developed the dogma of polygamy—and that he claimed he did so by Divine manifestations and by a vision.
Apostle Jason Briggs of the Reorganized Church, editor of the Messenger, made the following observations concerning Brigham's statement quoted above:
This is lifting one of the early disguises,—an uncovering of his [Brigham's] trail so long obscured. Here is an acknowledgment that the doctrine of polygamy was first revealed to him. He "had it for himself" before "Joseph or the Church" even thought of it. Well done, Brigham! Why didn't you tell the people this in the start, that polygamy was introduced through your revelation? The only answer to this is, it was thought essential to the success of this doctrine, that it should have the sanction of Joseph. (ibid., 29)
If you have any more questions feel free to write me!
James,
ReplyDeleteBefore we start our tussle over statements and sources, can you explain to me what the Nauvoo Expositor was all about?
Also, do you want me to quote RLDS sources, or will you accept PhD sources?
MH,
ReplyDeleteFirst off if we're in this just for the tussle, it's not worth it... And I will respectfully withdraw.. If we're in this for the truth, then I'm game.
To answer your question I'll quote Jeremiah 17:5-8 then explain myself. I am purposefully leaving out versus 7-8... I'm am telling you something in part, but I won't say exactly what it is... That is for you to discover for yourself. And is between you and Jesus Christ.
Jeremiah 17:5-6
5Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
6For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.
I mention this only to say there are two churches, one inhabits a salt land. If you know your scripture and geography, you will locate and Identify both churches... One is of God, the other is a church of men...
You can quote famous PHD's, I will listen, however if the Holy Spirit does not confirm what they say, I will not believe them....
I use the Bible, Book of Mormon and D&C in correspondence with LDS/RLDS Church History. Then I cross reference all of them, along with other Church Publications.
No I'm not as familiar with the Navoo Expositor as I should be. Not that it would really matter?
Joseph Smith either told the truth, or he was a lier. If Joseph lied about the Polygamy, then Chances are good he lied about all or some parts of the Book of Mormon. This also would make God a lier as well. God does not dwell in unholy temples. " LDS Alma 7:21, Mosiah 2:37" Had Joseph truly been responsible for polygamy, then he could just as easily told Brigham Young a lie about polygamy being a revelation from God. Yet God Himself warned King Solomon against the dangers of polygamy. And the Book of Mormon condemns it with passion, (Jacob chapter 2) as does the current LDS D&C and RLDS D&C. Joseph was also warned by Jesus Christ, men would speak good and evil of him....
Isaiah wrote about the Book of Mormon coming forth. Then a few versus later, warns us of men who would do works in secret, turning the great and marvelous work, upside down as the potters clay.
Isaiah 29:14-16
14Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
15Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?
16Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?
I respectfully submit to you, Salt Lake LDS have in contradiction to the Bible, Book of Mormon and D&C turn things upside down.... destroying the true gospel of Jesus Christ to the average Christian.
As far as I'm concerned Joseph Smith was a prophet. I'm also convinced God is real, and not stupid. He can foresee events and choices men will make in advance. Far enough in advance to decide weather to use those men to build His Kingdom. God knew if Joseph Smith would be worthy enough to withstand temptation. He made Joseph Himself. God warns us in the Bible and Book of Mormon to not cast our pearls before swine. God also makes it clear He despises hypocrisy. That He, God is not a hypocrite.
God would not entrust His pearls to the hands of a man who would corrupt them a purpose. Especially the very pearl with is to restore the lost 10 tribes of Israel to His covenant knowledge...
Joseph messed up once before, directly disobeying Moroni, setting the gold plates on the ground. He nearly lost the right to translate those plates. God also chastised Joseph for not keeping his house in order. This was a public chastisement in front of other priesthood. It is no secret Joseph Smith was a human being. Yes He was fallible.... But not a lier in any sense of the word. Definitely not a polygamist!
Thanks for your gracious off topic response on your blog. It helped me see more the real you. I'm glad you think Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. A name like Mormon Heretic leaves to much room for imagination.
Now a few things bother me. You have dubbed me COC. I have never mentioned being C.O.C. The C.O.C. has changed much doctrinal teaching, they've established women in the priesthood, while performing the heretical teachings of open communion. They have now decided that they will now serve communion to all walks of faith weather they have been baptised into the church or not! Serving communion to peoples condemnation is a very bad idea.
My wife having seen the your blog response, told me to make it clear, I'm a priest of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.... The COC has been high jacked by characters mentioned in Jude 1:3-4.
Since I've taken off my glove and slapped you the challenge, I'll give you your choice of weapons... But forgive me if I cheat... I will always fall back upon history which can be backed by scripture. I almost never rely upon men for information. They lie to much!
Sincerely
James Brian Marshall
James,
ReplyDeleteI apologize for making the mistake of calling you CoC. I had forgotten that a group of people had re-established the RLDS church after the CoC fell away. It is nice to meet someone who is truly RLDS. You are the first one I've met. I respect you and your beliefs. From your comments, it is evident you are more interested in theology, rather than history. I respect that.
I really think I'm wasting my time (as well as yours) with this conversation. You will never find out if Joseph Smith practiced polygamy by reading the Bible or the Book of Mormon. If you really want to know if Smith practiced polygamy, it requires reading a history book. You will not feel the spirit when you do that. If you want to learn history, I encourage you to find out what the Nauvoo Expositor was all about. It was published 3 weeks before Joseph Smith's death. It is relevant to our discussion. If you don't want to do that, then keep doing what you're doing. I respect that.
It is evident that you see things in black and white. I don't see things that way, and what I will tell you regarding Joseph Smith will either lead us into an argument, or you will fall away from the RLDS church. Neither option is palatable to me. I wish you well in your beliefs, and hope you continue to do Christ's work. I endeavor to do the same, however some people are threatened by my use of facts to state my position, rather than scripture. I don't always appeal to the Holy Spirit (though I do when appropriate), and I think you are not interested in what I have to say. (I have a really good grasp of the Bible and Book of Mormon, FYI.) I won't bother you again, and I will quit being a "follower" of you blog if you would like me to go away.
Good day, and May God be with you!
"They have cradled you in custom.

But don't you hear the truth? It's calling you."
Joseph Smith's Personal Clerks Betrayed Him
Most of the "good, faithful, and efficient clerks" were not good and faithful to Joseph. Some were polygamists themselves, and they rewrote Joseph's history under Brigham's direction to make it appear that Joseph was the author of polygamy.
The Mormon Church has published, "Moreover, since the death of the Prophet Joseph, the history has been carefully revised under the strict inspection of President Brigham Young, and approved by him" (LDS History of the Church 1:v–vi).

MH would you please explain to me why Joseph Smith's personal history was according to LDS Church Records rewritten?
Can you explain this to me?
Thanks
James Brian Marshall
James,
ReplyDeleteI am not relying on LDS church history for my refutation, but I will address your question anyway.
I encourage you to read "The Mormon Hierarchy" by D Michael Quinn. (He is an excommunicated mormon, so it is obviously not pro-LDS.) Quinn references everything he can from mormon, non-mormon, and RLDS sources, and talks about many changes in church history--including those by Joseph Smith.
The 1835 edition of the D&C has a great many revisions made by Joseph himself from the 1833 Book of Commandments, to clarify revelations Joseph received. It is true that official church records were modified by Brigham Young, but it is also true that revelations were altered by Joseph Smith. Do you refute this? Have you compared differences between the 1833 Book of Commandments and 1835 Doctrine and Covenants?
There, I have answered your question. Now please answer mine. What is the Nauvoo Expositor, and why did Joseph Smith order its printing presses destroyed? (Why are you avoiding this question?)
James,
ReplyDeleteI was just reading your comment policy regarding contention. It seems to me this post is asking for a fight. I mean, you seem to know that the LDS church claims Joseph practiced polygamy, while you are disputing that assertion. Isn't your making such a post inherently contentious? I mean, it seems to me you are just asking for an argument.
MH,
ReplyDeleteHow is publishing truth, about Joseph Smith being anti Polygamist contentious? Would you please explain that?
Are you saying God should not publish truth either because it's contentious? Should He not give us the Bible, Book of Mormon and D&C because it contends with the philosophy of the wicked?
It seems to me, that Salt Lake Mormons would be celebrating exhuberantly the fact Joseph Smith was not a polygamist... Instead of defending the lie told them.
How much greater would Salt Lake Utah's " Christian position" ( as a church ) be if they could tell Protestants Joseph Smith truly never practised polygamy...?
U.S. Courts and United States Congressional Investigation have said, Joseph Smith taught against polygamy.
While the courts could not conclusively prove Smith never actually practiced polygamy, the courts could prove he taught against it, and they determined it was the Salt Lake Church who first truly introduced Polygamy via Brigham Young well over 8 years after Smith's death.
LDS Church History also proves Joseph Smith did not teach Polygamy, RLDS History also says the same...
As do the thousands of whitnesses who knew Joseph Smith and his family personally.
So again I ask, how is publishing truthful, historical information contentious? How is revealing satans lie to all men, not just Salt Lake Mormons picking a fight?
Why would Mormons want Joseph Smith to be a polygamist, if he never was to begin with?
Yes I know what the LDS Church claims about Joseph Smith's Polygamy! I also know those claims could not stand in 2 courts of United States Law and 1 multi year Congressional Investigation ( Reed Smoot Hearings )where Protestant Christain political apponents of newly elected Senetor Reed Smoot of Utah, tried to block him from taking a seat in the U.S. Senate.
So I ask, how is publishing legal evidense of our government and Legal System asking for a fight?
How is telling the other side of the story being contentious?
How is making obvious satan's plan to destroy the church Jesus Christ restored to the earth picking a fight?
How is trying to save people from eternal distruction picking a fight?
Yes a fight I pick MH, but the fight I pick is not with you, but with the devil. For I seek to tell the truth to all men. To help them if they will let me, bear their burden, brake their bondange, and shatter the Yoke of deception.
Where Christ works to affirm and clearify, satan works to decieve, put down and confuse.
If I recall, I've said things to you in Emails to help keep this game honest, but I've said nothing to you meant as a put down.
Remember satan puts people down and demeans them. Do you not recognize his handywork in dealing with Joseph Smith? Jesus Christ came to Fulfill the law, and the Jews to this day still lie about Jesus Christ, saying he never came...
Joseph Smith restored Christ's Church, and to this day, he is lied about, yet he was a good and faithful servant to Christ.
Don't you recognize the pattern of history? History always repeats it'self. Especially in relation to Christ's Church.
Sincerely
James Brian Marshall
James,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I asked. No need for the diatribe. A simple answer would have been sufficient.
Now, once again, what is the Nauvoo Expositor, and why did Joseph Smith order it destroyed?
MH,
ReplyDeleteI hereby give answer about the Nauvoo Expositor. Let's just say accurate history, exposes the Expositors Publishers. My investigations while not complete, have revealed 3-4 of the Publisher of the Expositor were Polygamists themselves....
How interesting that they would pretend to be rightious men, yet accuse Joseph Smith of the sin of Polygamy...
Since you value brevity, only about a 10th the evidenses are published about these men... Even so it's a long response!

William Law, Wilson Law, Charles Ivins, Francis M. Higbee, Chauncey L. Higbee, Robert D, Foster, Charles A. Foster.
The Second Conspiracy—Dr. Law’s Group
When Dr. Bennett was expelled from the Church in 1842 he left Nauvoo, but the youthful Higbee brothers remained. Soon others joined them—men who were angry with Joseph for various economic and political reasons—and because Joseph had disciplined some of them in Church courts for adultery, thievery, and other crimes. Dr. William Law, a member of the First Presidency, joined this group and became the head of it.
Animosity developed between this group and Joseph. A conspiracy was formed and they tried to kill him. In a court case in which one of the conspirators sued Joseph Smith, A. B. Williams gave affidavit saying, “Joseph H. Jackson said that Doctor (Robert) Foster, Chauncy Higbee and the Laws were red-hot for a conspiracy, and he should not be surprised if in two weeks there should be not one of the Smith family left in Nauvoo” (Times and Seasons 5:541, May 15, 1844).
Dr. Law tried to depose Joseph and replace him as the head of the Church. He declared himself the head of the “Reformed Mormon Church,” called Francis Higbee and others to be apostles, and called for the elders to come and have their licenses renewed under him. This group published the Nauvoo Expositor, which claimed that Joseph was a polygamist. After their paper was destroyed, they went to Carthage and raised the mob that killed Joseph and Hyrum.
This group constituted the second conspiracy which accused Joseph of polygamy in order to further their own selfish aims. Their aims were different than Dr. Bennett’s, however, in that they wanted to remove Joseph—not to institute polygamy.
The First Polygamy Conspiracy—Bennett and His Followers
The first organized effort of a group of men which tried to implicate Joseph in polygamy to cover their own evil deeds was headed by Dr. John C. Bennett who came to Nauvoo in 1841. Dr. Bennett, who was mayor of Nauvoo and an assistant to the First Presidency, seduced several women by teaching them the Cochranite plural wife doctrines. He did so by convincing them “that Joseph had such revelations and commandments, and that they were of God” (The Wasp, July 27, 1842).
Dr. Bennett taught several men to practice polygamy also, including Chauncey and Francis M. Higbee, sons of the Church’s historian. When their seductions came to light, Joseph labored with the men and expelled Dr. Bennett.
Joseph also sued Lawyer Chauncey Higbee for teaching that Joseph was the author of polygamy.
On May 24, 1842, he signed an affidavit to take Chauncey into court in Carthage (the county seat). Joseph’s affidavit declared, “...That at sundry times, in the City of Nauvoo, county aforesaid, one Chancy (sic) L. Higbee has slandered and defamed the character of the said Joseph Smith, and also the character of Emma Smith, his wife, in using their names, the more readily to accomplish his purpose in seducing certain females ..." (The People Versus C. L. Higbee, Hancock County Courthouse Archives). If Joseph had been the author of polygamy, he certainly would not have sued a lawyer in a nonmember court, for fear that he would be exposed, rather than Chauncey!
Chauncey Higbee Polygamy Case
Affidavit of Catharine Fuller Warren]
Nauvoo, May 25th, 1842.
Extract from the testimony of Catharine [Fuller] Warren, vs. Chauncey L. Higbee, before the High Council of the Church, &c.
I have had unlawful connexion with Chauncey L. Higbee. Chauncey Higbee, taught the same doctrine as was taught by J. C. Bennet, and that Joseph Smith, taught and practiced those things, but he [Chauncey] stated that he did not have it from Joseph, but he had his information from Dr. John C. Bennet. He, Chauncey L. Higbee, has gained his object about five or six times, Chauncey L. Higbee, also made propositions to keep me with food if I would submit to his desires." (Nauvoo Neighbor, May 29, 1844; Millennial Star 23:657658)
Chauncey Was Expelled from the Church
On May 24, 1842, the High Council voted to expel Chauncey L. Higbee from the Church because of his adulterous sins (see LDS History of the Church 5:18).
Joseph Sued Chauncey L. Higbee in Court at Carthage
Joseph Smith took immediate action when he discovered that Lawyer Chauncey L. Higbee had used his name to seduce women into practicing spiritual wifery. The Prophet was so disturbed by this news that he not only brought Chauncey before the Church's High Council and had him expelled from the Church, but he took the case two steps further: He sued Chauncey in Nauvoo before Justice of the Peace Ebenezer Robinson, and later in the Hancock County Circuit Court at the county seat at Carthage. In doing so Joseph provided one of the strongest evidences that (1) he was not a polygamist, (2) that he had not had a revelation commanding the practice of polygamy, and (3) that polygamy had its origin in some other source (which was in Dr. Bennett's brand of Cochranism).

James,
ReplyDeleteWhile you have lots of letters here and affidavits, you didn't directly address the Expositor. What are 3 specific issues that Joseph had a problem with?
You did address that some of the founders were opposed to polygamy, but you could go further. Before I asked you this question about the Expositor, did you have any idea that there were rumors of polygamy prior to Joseph's death? Would you like to see my research?
MH,
ReplyDeleteWait a minute! Let's see if I were Joseph Smith, I'd have a problem with men trying to murder me, lie about me and the eventually kill me...
That's three issues right there!
But I can come up with more... A Prophet has been gifted with Spiritual foresight and ability to see the future, provided He follows and adhears to God's Laws and keeps ( ALL ) His commandments! If he does not, He cannot foresee the future and has no gift...
If I were a Prophet, I'd be in anguish to see God use me to great good for mankind, yet the terrible burden of knowing I'd let men into the church, to kill my family, despitefully use and descredit my wife, while working to discredit my God would make me furious...
Knowing my brothers Hyrum, Samuel and my Father would die because men would conspire to work against me and my family would futher inspire me to order a printing press destoryed...
Excepting the Nauvoo Town counsel according to history ordered it destroyed! Who else was in that counsel besides Joseph SMith?
MH,
ReplyDeleteJoseph Smith was rumored a Polygamist almost from the instant he receieved the plates. He 1831 D&C Revelation was given man should have but one wife Proves this.
"Thou shalt love thy wife with all thy heart, and shall cleave unto her and none else" (RLDS Section 42:7; Utah Section 42:22).
Second Revelation given one month later futher proves the Prophet Joseph was taking the Issue to Jesus Christ, and again received confirming revelation:
"Marriage is ordained of God unto man; wherefore it is lawful that he should have one wife, and they twain shall be one flesh, and all this that the earth might answer the end of its creation" (Doctrine and Covenants 49:3).
Please note, when Jesus Christ was doing the Lords work, the Pharrasee's lied about Him and killed Him...
Please note the same happened to Joseph Smith...
Men lied about Smith's nature because it served their purposes, not God's...
The type and shaddow is the same pattern...
In answer to you question yes I knew...
PS. What do you think about Salt Lake D&C proclaiming man should have but one wife, yet section 132 given 8 years after Smith's death contradicts the revelation given by Smith 13 years prior. 13 years is an awful long time to lie and not get caught huh?
Sincerely
James Brian Marshall
James,
ReplyDeleteWith all due respect, if you're going to resort to hyperbole and scripture quoting, instead of historical references, I don't see this as a real fruitful discussion.
Are you trying to say the Nauvoo Expositor printed a threat to murder Joseph? Wrong. If you want to say they lied, what did they lie about? And you said kill him twice, so that's not three reasons.
Come on James, you can do better, or you can ask me, but you need to talk facts here, not resort to unsubstantiated hyperbole. Are you afraid to talk actual facts?
Really James, if all you can come up with is conspiracy theories, you should talk about JFK assassinations and UFO's. They don't care about facts either. I'm sorry, I know that's not nice, but I'm getting really frustrated with your diatribes here. I'm afraid I'm not going to continue here if you can't provide factual answers to my questions, and you don't have enough respect to carry on a respectful conversation.
One last time. If you can't answer it without a long diatribe, don't bother. Why was mayor, judge, and Nauvoo Legion General, and Prophet Joseph Smith (and the city council he presided over) upset with the Nauvoo Expositor?
MH = Rick,
ReplyDeleteRick the Spirit you carried while communicating with me is not of Jesus Christ.
As for my responses to your questions, I'm sorry I cannot respond to a disingenuous being who's sole intent is to trap me in my words, making me an offender and an object of ridicule regardless of the truth of which I have posted or responded at his requests...
The truth shall continue to be published, and shall continue to stand as a beacon. You may leave if you wish, it's completely up to you...
If you want the victory over me I will concede it with the dust off my very feet! May God have mercy upon you....
Sincerely with Regrets
James Brian Marshall
